Explore the best that Peru has to offer! On this Group Trip to Peru, we will explore deep in the Amazon Rainforest, visit one of the Seven Wonders of The World Machu Picchu, and so much more! We’ll be staying in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest at a lodge surrounded by true nature unlike anywhere else. We’ll see wild monkeys, caiman and so much more in their natural habitat during our jungle walks! We’ll head to the Andes Mountains where we’ll get to witness one of the Seven Wonders of The World Machu Picchu, and climb Rainbow Mountain one of the most breathtaking mountain ranges I’ve ever witnessed.
This trip is not for the faint of heart and will be adventure packed! If you’re looking for a leisure/laidback trip, this is not for you! Although there will be rest days in Cusco and time to relax in the Amazon, this is an adventure packed itinerary so please keep this in mind if you’re considering joining this adventure!
Day 1 - Arrive in Lima
Arrival day! My drivers will be prepared for all travelers arriving at different times throughout the day. I will greet you at the hotel where I’ll give you a rundown of the entire itinerary and schedule. You’ll have the opportunity to explore town by yourself or relax in the hotel until around dinner time where we’ll go as a group to a local restaurant and enjoy some dinner and pisco sours!
Day 2 - Off to Cusco
Yes, we're already heading to our next city. This is because it’s crucial for everyone to acclimatize to the altitude of Cusco which is around 12,000ft. I don’t want altitude sickness to ruin anyone's time at Machu Picchu or Rainbow mountain so we need to get to Cusco as soon as possible to acclimatize to the altitude. Some may be able to feel the effects of the altitude as soon as we land, so it's very important to take the day to relax.
Day 3 - Rest day or Explore the Sacred valley
Today you’ll have the option to explore the stunning landscape of the Sacred Valley. For those that would like to rest, feel free to relax and explore Cusco down. Keep in mind, symptoms of high altitude may be kicking in, so rest is a really great idea!
For those that want to start exploring, our adventure kicks off with a visit to a charming local textile shop. Here, you'll get a glimpse into the rich cultural tapestry of the Andes and the artistry of crafting clothing and textiles from the finest alpaca wool. Our next stop transports us to the historical town of Chincheros, where we’ll dive into the history of this quaint town. After, we’ll head to Moray, a captivating archaeological site known for its astonishing agricultural terraces. We’ll end our journey at the stunning Maras salt mines, where you'll experience a natural wonder like no other. Sample an array of salts harvested directly from the mines, each with its unique flavor profile.
This will be a full day of exploring with lunch included. We’ll get back into town just in time to get cleaned up, grab some dinner and rest before our early morning and full day tour to Machu Picchu the next day!
Day 4 - Machu Picchu
Get ready to check one of the Seven World Wonders off your bucketlist, because today we get to explore Machu Picchu! We will wake up bright and early around 4am to head to the train station where we will board the Peru Rails infamous Vistadome train. This train ride will have absolutely stunning views of the mountains through their windows panning all the way to the ceiling!
Once we arrive at the train station in Aguas Calientes we will then get on a bus to the entrance of Machu Picchu where we will begin our private tour of this incredible site! We’ll tour this incredible site for about 2-3hrs then head back into Aguas Calientes to enjoy some lunch and relax before taking the train back to Cusco.
That night if you’re not too worn out from the day, we’ll all head out for dinner and drinks!
Day 5 - Rest Day
YOU WILL NEED THIS! After Machu Picchu you will be exhausted and we have an extremely early morning tomorrow. Please take it easy today!! Enjoy a massage, rest in your room or take a stroll around town. I’m an explorer yall, I love a JAM packed itinerary, but i’ve experienced this itinerary and all of these tours first hand and you will need this rest day.
Day 6 - Rainbow Mountain
Prepared for your breath to be taken away at one of my favorite sites here in Peru, Rainbow Mountains! We start our adventure at 3am (this allows us to be the first group to the top of the mountain), where our private transportation will arrive at the hotel. I will have small pillows and blankets for the drive for each of you as well as a small packed breakfast. We’ll be driving around 2.5-3 hrs into the stunning mountains.
Once we arrive at the entrance of where we will begin our trek, we will hop on horses guided by their owners to the base of the mountain peaks. There are typically 2 choices at the start of this trek, you can either walk an hour to the base which takes around or ride horses which takes around 25 minutes. I’ve learned that some people are so worn out by the 1hr trek, that they can’t even enjoy the mountain, some don’t even make it to the top! Which is why I opted for us to ride the horses. Let's save our energy for the beauty of the top!
We will then hike about 15-20 minutes to the top, to the most stunning landscape and views of the rainbow mountains! Here you will enjoy 360 views on not just the rainbow mountains, but of one of Perus biggest glaciers!! This was honestly the highlight of my time in Peru. After we enjoy our epic views and take tons of photos, we’ll make the trek down to the base of Rainbow Mountain and ride our horses back to where our van will be parked. We’ll then drive to the local restaurant where we will enjoy some lunch, tea and drinks.
We will arrive back in town around 1pm where you can get some much needed rest before our big travel day to the Amazon! Breakfast and lunch are included on this day.
Day 7 - Fly to the Amazon Rainforest!
Today we fly from Cusco to Iquitos. Once we arrive in this tiny amazonian town, we’ll check into our hotels and you’ll have the opportunity to either rest or to explore the little town with me!
That night we’ll enjoy some dinner and drinks at the best roof top restaurant in Iquitos!
Day 8 - Head deep into the Amazon!!
Today we start our excursion into the Amazon Rainforest. We will have a pickup time of 9:30am where we’ll start our 2hr drive into the rural peruvian countryside. We’ll then take a walk through one of the small villages to where our boat will meet us to take us to our lodge in the middle of the Amazon Rainforest. The boat ride will take around 45 min where you’ll already begin to witness the wildlife and fauna of the rainforest.
We’ll arrive at the lodge, relax and enjoy some lunch. Straight after lunch the adventure begins with a jungle walk! Here our expert guide will take us deep into the rainforest to find monkeys, sloths, a variety of birds and so much more! That night we’ll take a boat ride on the amazon river to experience all the rainforest has to offer AT NIGHT. Lunch and dinner are included on this day.
Day 9 - Explore the Amazon
Another day of exploring the amazon river! We’ll have breakfast around 6:30am and immediately after, we’ll head out on the Amazon to explore the jungle and find more wildlife. You’ll see the difference in wildlife during the early mornings as the creatures start to wake up and feed.
We’ll head back around Lunch time so you can enjoy some food and relax. This may be a great time for a nap, because around 3pm we will start our next tour! The next tour will include piranha fishing, witnessing the pink dolphins of the amazon river and so much more! We’ll be back in time for you to relax and enjoy dinner. Later that afternoon we’ll visit one of the near by local villages so you can get a first hand look at how the locals live here in the Amazon.
Around 7pm after the sunsets, we grab our flashlights and head into the rainforest for our nightwalk!! A truly unique experience where you’ll get to see all the critters that take over the rainforest at night. Once we finish our night walk, we’ll head back to our cabins to get a good night's rest for another early morning! Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included on this day.
Day 10 - Last Day In The Amazon
Today we’ll wake up again around 6:30am to enjoy breakfast and head straight out for our last jungle walk experience. We’ll take the boat out deep into the Amazon where we’ll do our final nature walk deep in the jungle with our guide to experience more wildlife.
We’ll head back to the lodge for lunch then start our journey back to civilization in Iquitos city. Breakfast and lunch are included on this day!
Day 11 - Fly to Lima
Today we will fly back to Lima. We’ll get a chance to explore the city or relax before your international departures tomorrow. That night we’ll go out as a group for dinner and drinks to say our goodbyes and reminisce on all the amazing experiences we had together!
Day 12 - Departure day!
Today we say our final farewells as everyone heads back to their home countries. My drivers will take everyone individually to the airport at the respective times needed.
